A free writing experience with Ali Lawrence
Friends, feelers, seekers, and revealers —
Come as you are. Bring your notebook, your pen, and your beautiful human heart.
These free pop-up gatherings are an invitation to pause, breathe, and write together. For ninety minutes, we’ll sink into the alchemy of Wild Writing™ — a practice where poetry becomes our muse, our pen becomes our compass, and our words become a gentle balm for the soul.
You don’t need to call yourself a “writer” to join us. You only need curiosity and a willingness to listen — to poetry, to the quiet inside, to the stories waiting in your body.
Here’s what will happen:
I'll read a poem aloud, offering lines as sparks
Together, we'll write quickly, bravely, without editing or censoring
We'll listen as each voice is heard, each story honored.
We'll remember what it feels like to be human, together.
This is a practice
Of presence, of empathy, of discovery.

Love Notes
Arianne MacBean, Somatic Therapist
Ali has taken the principles of Wild Writing™, a hugely popular strategy for pouring what moves inside us onto the page, and made it her own with Four Chambers Writing. She is also a heart-stopping writer, which you can experience for yourself on her Substack, Swim Lessons. I had the joyous opportunity to participate in a series of Ali’s Four Chambers workshops, and I can attest to the way the practice cuts straight to the center of the Self.
Sirena Masket, Cranio-Sacral Therapist
I have just finished one of Ali's Four Chambers Writing groups, and I miss it already. Ali effortlessly held space, chose the perfect poems, encouraged us to be vulnerable, and also taught us how to receive each other's writing in a quiet way. It is a rare treat to get to be present with yourself and others, and I really appreciated having a space for things to move through me. I surprised myself with my writing, with the tears that came, with the fun memories that showed up. What a treasure. I highly recommend this experience!!!
Jan Ruby, Artist and Professor
Ali Lawrence, MFA, is a sensational teacher. Her methods are to inspire her students with words that help us get started. We hear them used in wonderful poems...then decide for ourselves which of the starting words might help us move forward with our own works of art. Her quiet demeanor invites us all to settle and dedicate ourselves to the task at hand. Her directions are clear, accessible, thoughtful, and in service of creating an environment that allows creativity to emerge with ease. She is ever mindful of what it takes to invite writing to flow with freedom and fearlessness. Ali shared that she has developed additional ideas that she will soon reveal in her upcoming classes; I will certainly attend! I am ever grateful for the support and acknowledgement that Ali offered me as I began to write.
